It is used in daily necessities, sporting goods, toys, decorative materials, etc. The field is widely used, and halogen-free flame retardant TPU can also replace soft PVC to meet environmental protection requirements in more and more fields. In the era of automotive lightweighting, TPU is also becoming more and more widely used in the automotive field.

TPU's wear resistance, bending fatigue resistance, high elasticity and outstanding, can be used in a variety of automotive parts, such as gear lever handles, bushings and washers for various couplings, connectors for various harnesses, spirals Telescopic wires, cable jackets, toothed belts, sheath and gaskets for steering rods, suspension joint hinges, hydropneumatics, suspension diaphragms, shock absorbing diaphragms, shock absorbers, spring limit, etc., can also be used with other plastics or Rubber composite use for automotive bumpers, airbags, dust covers and other components. At present, thermoplastic elastomers commonly used in automobiles include polyolefins (TPO, TPV), polyesters (TPEE), polyurethanes (TPU), and styrenes (TPS).

From the perspective of global application, the development of TPU products in Europe and America started earlier, the technology is more mature, and it is more widely used in high-end fields. At present, the total application of automobiles has reached 16%.

The application of TPU in the automotive field mainly has the following forms:

1. TPU/PP plastic alloy. This material has the advantages of light weight, excellent cost performance, and recyclability. It is expected to be widely used in automotive interior and exterior trim parts, such as bumpers and brackets, various brackets and structural frames on the vehicle.

2, TPU / PC plastic alloy. Blending TPU with PC can improve the toughness, stress cracking, fracture sensitivity, solvent resistance and chemical resistance of PC. At the same time, it can reduce the molding processing temperature of PC and expand its application range in the automotive industry.

3. TPU/PVC plastic alloy. TPU/PVC alloy can significantly improve the elongation of PVC, and the environmental protection is greatly improved, which can reduce the harm of plasticizer on the human body caused by PVC, thereby expanding the application field of PVC.

4. TPU/PA6 plastic alloy. The blending of TPU and PA6 not only retains the high elasticity, high strength, wear resistance of TPU, but also improves the temperature resistance. Its comprehensive performance is outstanding, it is a new high-performance composite material, which has wide application value in the automotive industry. .

5, TPU long fiber composite material. Long fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite (LFT) has been widely used in the automotive industry due to its high strength, high rigidity, high dimensional stability, low warpage, long service life and creep resistance. Among them, TPU (alloy) / LFT composite materials can be widely used in automotive dashboards, bumpers, floors, front and door components, and underbody protection.

At present, the domestic TPU industry is developing rapidly, new products are being continuously introduced, and high-end applications are gradually expanding. It is believed that its application in the automotive field will be greatly enhanced and become an important way for automobiles to be lightweight.
