Future development of TPU film

Date:Aug 06, 2019

TPU film has experienced many stages from birth to now, and some of his attributes are constantly improving, so is his future development pure in this big development space?

Hot melt adhesive is a plastic adhesive. Its physical state changes with temperature in a certain temperature range, and its chemical properties are unchanged. It is non-toxic and tasteless and is an environmentally friendly chemical product. The hot melt adhesive is composed of a matrix resin + a tackifier + a plasticizer + an antioxidant + a filler, and the glue after the melt is a liquid, which is sent through a hot melt hose and a hot melt glue gun of a hot melt glue machine. Adhesion is completed after the surface of the adherend is cooled.

In recent years, hot melt has faced more challenges. Polyolefin hot melt adhesives, especially metallocene polyolefins (PO), grow faster, mainly because of its low molecular weight, making the hot melt adhesives low in viscosity, suitable for bonding at lower temperatures. . As a countermeasure, the class should develop more than 1000 grades of MI, so that hot melt adhesives can also be made into low temperature, low viscosity hot melt adhesives.

As hot melt adhesive products are undergoing structural adjustment and product grade upgrades, in recent years, PUR, TPU, PA and other hot melt adhesive products have a faster growth rate due to their better performance. The countermeasures are to strengthen the development and application of thermal reaction type hot melt adhesives, so that the hot melt adhesives have improved heat resistance, weather resistance and solvent resistance. Such as the application field of reactive hot melt adhesive powder and TPU film and composite materials.

Going out to challenge hot melt adhesives also has obvious advantages. Compatibility with tackifiers is better than PO, PA, PET, PU, etc., and the price is low, the versatility of bonding applications is good, and the comprehensive performance is good. In addition, it can be modified with PO, PA, PU, PET and other materials. Hot melt adhesives, which improve the multi-faceted properties of hot melt adhesives.

The development potential of hot melt adhesives is huge. In recent years, it is worth mentioning that the thermal cross-linked TPU film used in solar light products has a large growth, and the sales volume in 2013 increased by about 25% in 2012. The National Energy Administration announced on August 9 that in the first half of 2014, the newly added photovoltaic power generation capacity of the country was 3.3 million kilowatts, an increase of about 100% over the same period of last year. Among them, the newly added photovoltaic power grid has a grid-connected capacity of 2.3 million kilowatts. The photovoltaic grid-connected capacity is 1 million kilowatts. The cumulative on-grid power of photovoltaic power generation was about 11 billion kWh, which also increased by more than 200% year-on-year. Driven by photovoltaic products, the domestic hot melt adhesive market will have greater potential. According to the prediction of the Hot Melt Adhesive Professional Committee of the China Adhesives and Adhesive Tape Industry Association: the annual growth rate of hot melt adhesives will remain at 10 in the next few years. As a traditional hot melt adhesive, the hot melt adhesive has the advantages of better comprehensive performance, lower price, rich resources, mature formula design and application technology compared with other base polymers. 2.62 million tons, the largest among all hot melt adhesive technology classifications. Therefore, the future market potential of hot melt adhesives is still huge, and the outlook is still relatively optimistic.
